The Importance of Oil to the Bilateral Relationship

Oil remains a key sector where the lifting of sanctions will benefit the Greek-Iranian commercial relationship. Until 2012 and the start of renewed international sanctions on Teheran by the international community, including a hydrocarbons embargo, Greece was importing around 200,000 barrels of oil per day from Iran, being one of Iran’s best customers on a worldwide level.

Saudi al Qaeda cleric showcases training camp for children in Syria, by Caleb Weiss

BY  | September 4th, 2015 | weiss.caleb2@gmail.com | @Weissenberg7

A group led by Abdullah al Muhaysini, a popular al Qaeda-linked cleric in Syria, has released a video showing a training camp for children likely located in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib. The video is for the “Cubs of al Aqsa [referring to the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem] camp” and has been translated by the SITE Intelligence Group.
The video starts with a young boy decrying organizations for children in Syria. “O you who established organizations for protecting the rights of children!” The child goes on to say, “I am a child and my rights were violated, my school destroyed, and my dreams lost. I lost my mother and father under the rubble. You have heard my cries, you have heard my groans, you saw my tears and my blood and none of you did anything for me!”

Who is to Blame for the Drowning of Alan Kurdi? by Tarek Fatah

A single photograph of a three-year old boy named Alan Kurdi, lying dead on a Turkish beach, has rocked the conscience of the world.
The picture will remain seared in our collective memory forever, just as the image of a nine-year-old girl running naked on a road after being severely burned on her back in a napalm bomb attack shook us up on June 8, 1972. That was Phan Thi Kim Phuc, who later settled down in Canada.

CNN documents Qatari funding of terror

The jihad in Syria against the Alawites has been wholeheartedly funded by millionaires in Qatar. The Qatari ministry of culture oversees some of the volunteer operations to fund terrorism like this, and counter-terrorism expert Juan Zarate says the financial support for jihad comes “from the top.” This isn’t new information, but seeing video of the players involved may help some people to grow up and out of the old-fashioned 1990s view of Qatar as an ally in the Gulf.
